[the chain that had killed Isla, killed so many Baskervilles, and had punctured Leo through the chest... the chain that was his power, his because he didn't have a contract with a chain. He had always been the chain, the Bloody B-Rabbit, and there was nothing he could say or think that could change that. once again, his power had been wielded to kill.]
[once again, he had killed. not kite, who had been prepared to kill, but someone he had genuinely liked, someone he had thought could be a friend if he just tried harder, someone who he had admired --]
[Oh, Oz. Jack sighs, and he's pulled down, all the way inside of him.]
[His consciousness is just as lonely as he remembers it being. The water makes soft ripples as he lands, even as his heart speeds up in fear. No, this was not what he wanted, not now -- He lifts his eyes, only to see the face of someone had been long dormant.]

It's okay, Oz. It's alright. [Jack places a hand on Oz's fluffy head, reminiscent of the head ruffle that his friends had given him, and smiles.] He didn't say anything you already didn't know, did he? Kite lacks -- finesse, but really, he's only reminded you of something you should have remembered.
[Oz stares back, hollowly. There was no point in pretending to ignore him, no point]
Oz... Nothing can belong to someone like you, remember? Because you destroy everything. [brightly] So it was all inevitable. You were the one who decided to talk to her, who wanted to be her friend. If you had stayed away like you were supposed to, you wouldn't have killed her.
I... I... [izumo, he's so sorry, he--] Jack...
And now everyone else is dead. That's what he said, right? Though I'm sure that isn't true... [oz doesn't hear the last part, remembering suddenly what Kite had said about gilbert and sharon and alphonse and everyone. dead, dead, dead. But not Gil, he thinks desperately, not Gil, never Gil... except the memory of stitches and vincent screaming with gil's face suddenly bloats out everything else, and if everything else hadn't already broken him, then this definitely had.]
[Jack pauses and suddenly wraps his arms around Oz, holding him close.] It's okay, it's okay, Oz. Just... close your eyes, go to sleep. Don't think about it, just go to sleep. Lose your will and you won't have to deal with the pain anymore. I'll take care of this body for us.
[and even as jack speaks, oz is sinking, sinking down into the water, because he can't, because he won't, because everyone was dead, because he killed Izumo, because.... his eyes close, and he sighs.]
